If you print out carsCopy, it will be the set of three cars we saw earlier. You can still use -filteredArrayUsingPredicate: with an NSMutableArray to make a new (nonmutable) array because NSMutableArray is a subclass of NSArray. NSSets have similar calls, too. As we mentioned with KVC, using predicates is really convenient, but it runs no faster than writing all the code yourself. That s because there s no way to avoid looping over all the cars and doing some work with each of them. For the most part, this looping is no big deal, because computers are very fast these days. Go ahead and write the most convenient code possible and then measure your performance using Apple s tools like Shark or Instruments if you run into speed problems. iPhone programmers, though, should pay very close attention to program performance at all times.
